Folsom police say vehicle fire determined to be arson

FOLSOM - A fire that destroyed a van, tractor trailer and storage container in the area of Hidden Falls Drive and Carpenter Hill Road early Thursday morning, has been determined arson, according to officials.

Folsom firefighters received a call around 4 a.m. of a dumpster fire, but when they arrived on scene, a van, trailer and large Conex storage container were burning, said Folsom police spokesman Chris Hill. Once firefighters put out the flames, nothing but scorched, bare metal and the shell of the tractor trailer, was left standing. Hill said the damaged vehicles and storage unit contained miscellaneous building materials and electrical wiring.

Folsom police were called in to investigate the incident and were able to determine the cause was arson. Hill said due to extremely cold weather (approx. 32 degrees), arson investigators concluded the van was purposely set ablaze around 3:30 a.m. before spreading to the trailer and storage container.

No one has been arrested in the incident and investigators are still working to identity who is responsible for the intentional fire.

Anyone with informationa about the fire should call Detective Jeana Stover with the Folsom Police Department at (916) 355-7235 or contact the Crime Tipline at (800) 47-ARSON.
