Lyon Real Estate announced today the winners of its inaugural Lyon Cares philanthropy award. Lyon agent Kim Pacini Hauch of the Sierra Oaks office earned $3,000 for Maryhouse, Teresa Lynch of Lyon’s Folsom office earned $2,000 for her charity of choice - the Grace Foundation and Nancy Reid also of the Sierra Oaks office earned $1,000 for Breakthrough Sacramento.

The Lyon Cares Award is a monetary donation made to local organizations as voted on exclusively by Lyon agents and employees. Agents and staff nominated local organizations that they were either members of or active volunteers with. The 60 nominations that were received were then narrowed down to the three finalists by a committee and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners were determined by a vote of all Lyon Real Estate agents and employees. The winners were recently announced at the Lyon Real Estate Annual Awards Ceremony.

“We are very excited about the inaugural presentation of the Lyon Cares award and were pleased to see a large number of submissions,” said Larry Knapp, Chief Executive Officer of Lyon Real Estate. “It is reflective of the dedication and commitment of our agents to the communities they serve and we look forward to finding more ways to help the community in the future.”

The winning organization, taking the top $3,000 prize, was Maryhouse and it was submitted by Kim Pacini. Maryhouse is a daytime shelter for homeless women and children. It provides personal attention to women through intense short-term guidance with a goal of helping them take the next step from seeking assistance to independence and self-sufficiency.

The second place organization earning $2,000 was submitted by Teresa Lynch. The Grace Foundation is an equine rescue and rehabilitation facility located in El Dorado Hills, CA. Established to help children, individuals, and at-risk youth by putting some of these rescued animals to work as therapy horses. Activities provide the children and youth the opportunity to assist with the rehabilitation of an animal and provide that animal with a higher quality of life

The third finalist earning $1,000 and submitted by Nancy Reid was Breakthrough Sacramento. Breakthrough Sacramento is a public-private partnership providing a year-round, tuition-free, college preparatory program for academically motivated, ethnically diverse students from under-resourced schools in the Sacramento area. It is also an innovative teacher-training program for talented high school and college students.

In addition to the three Lyon Cares donations, the top 80 producing agents, known as Lyon’s Senior Executives, each received a $100 voucher to donate to the charity or non-profit of their choice, increasing the total amount donated to $14,000.

“This was a great day for our company, our agents and our community,” said Jean Li, President of Lyon Real Estate. “We not only celebrated the success of our incredible agents; but we were able to give back to the community that has been dedicated to our agents for over 65 years.”

Founded 65 years ago, Lyon Real Estate is Sacramento’s largest brokerage, with 17 offices, approximately 900 agents and 100 other employees. It is the fourth-largest independently owned residential real estate firm in California.
