Junior League of Sacramento 6th annual crab feed

The Junior League of Sacramento is hosting the 6th Annual Crab Feed fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 5.  The event will have a denim and diamond theme.  Tickets are now available online at www.jlsac.org.  Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door.  Early ticket purchases are strongly encouraged.  Reserved tables are also available.

Dinner will include Dungeness crab, pasta, salad, antipasto, bread, and dessert.  A no-host bar opens at 5:00p.m.

Telugu Association hosts SanKranthi and 7th Anniversary Celebration

The Telugu Association of Greater Sacramento (TAGS) is celebrating the Indian harvest festival “Sankranti” and its 7th year Anniversary with a gamut of cultural events.

Over 150 local artists and performers are scheduled to perform.

Folsom Citizen’s Academy gearing up for registration

Would you like to get more involved in your community? Perhaps you would like to learn more about the wonderful community in which you live? Here is an opportunity for you to do both!

The Citizen's Academy is an educational program designed to create a greater understanding and trust between public safety agencies and the residents of Folsom. Guest agencies participate in the program to provide information on their services. The academy is the basic training requirement for the CAPS (Citizen’s Assisting Public Safety) Volunteer Program. Over 380 residents have attended the academy classes and there are currently 80 members in the CAPS program.

The Folsom Police Department covers topics such as Use of Force, CSI, Identity theft, 9-1-1 reporting, SWAT, Narcotics, and K-9 and Mounted Demonstrations. The Folsom Fire Department teaches classes on EMS and Disaster Preparedness.

San Juan Unified selects 2011 classified employees of the Year

Five outstanding employees have been selected as San Juan Unified’s 2011 Classified School Employees of the Year. To recognize classified employees, the District accepted nominations for Classified Employees of the Year in the following six categories: child nutrition; maintenance and operations; office and technical; para-educator and instructional assistance; support services and security; and transportation.

All five of the Classified Employees of the Year will be recognized at the Feb. 8 Board meeting. They are also now eligible to be selected as one of Sacramento County’s Teachers of the Year. 

Starr King K-8 Head Custodian James Hutton has been a custodian in the District for 11 years and has been the head custodian at Starr King K-8 for one year.

“James is making a difference in the lives of our students and he has made a personal commitment to Starr King.
