Holiday magic continues in Old Sacramento with the 9th annual “Macy’s Theatre of Lights”

An electrifying and family-friendly holiday tradition, the ever-popular “Macy’s Theatre of Lights” performances will return to dazzle the Old Sacramento historic district again this season. Taking place on K Street between Front and 2nd Streets, the performances kick off on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, following a festive and fun tree lighting ceremony that is complete with pre- and post-show entertainment. The free performances will continue for a total of 22 magical evenings ending on Christmas Eve.

On Veterans Day (November 11, 2017), many of the 30 members of Sacramento Area Museums (SAM) are featuring a number of special events and activities honoring military veterans, a sampling of which includes the following:

The California State Railroad Museum Foundation is proud to present an all-new Halloween-inspired event for adults – “Sips & Spirits: The Train Ride” on Friday evening, October 27, 2017, departing at 7 p.m. Ticketed guests will delight in a frightfully fun train ride along the on the Sacramento Southern Railroad while enjoying a blood-shot cocktail and being entertained by a Mad Scientist and his minions, Monster Mash dancers and more. Train ride guests will indulge in hard cider and nibble on delicious appetizers provided by Fat’s Catering all while enjoying a dark night on the railroad – it’s Halloween fun, adult-style!

Calling kids & canines…Midtown Association to present Halloween Festival & Pooch Parade

Plans are afoot for the Midtown Association (MA) to present the crowd-favorite Midtown Halloween Festival & Pooch Parade on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Marshall Park (915 27th Street).  Sponsored by the Sutter District – with restaurants that include BarWest, Biba, Blue Cue, Café Bernardo, Centro Cocina Mexicana, Harlow’s, Monkey Bar, INK Eats & Drinks, Paragary’s Midtown & Red Rabbit Kitchen & Bar – the canine-friendly event is highlighted by the much-anticipated “pooch parade” scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. that day. Four-legged friends will strut by while competing in an entertaining costume contest that will include playful prizes for the winning pooches.

The community is invited to visit, stay and play in Midtown Sacramento from morning until night on Saturday, October 28, 2017, to enjoy a wide variety of Halloween-related experiences sure to entertain individuals, families and four-footed friends alike.  A sampling of the spirited activities happening that day include the following:

Midtown Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 20th at J & K Streets
In addition to a bounty of harvest and farm-fresh fruits, vegetables and other gourmet edibles available, Halloween-related activities will be on the menu at the Midtown Farmers Market on this special day. Shoppers are encouraged to come in costume and children of all ages are invited to take part in a fun and free mini pumpkin scavenger hunt throughout the market plus pick up a free temporary tattoo decal.
