STARS Program Works With Young People Nation Wide

Toni Tirapelli of Elk Grove, CA. founded the STARS Power Program to help build healthy bodies and minds by bolstering school curriculum and educational opportunities for youth. “The National Child Abuse Prevention Month Essay Contests works to provoke thought and empower our children to better care for themselves and their peers” Tirepelli explains. “Stars is producing this program in association with National Child Abuse Prevention Month because we believe safety begins with education”she goes on to explain.

STARS will be working with class rooms in all 50 states to promote participation and get kids of all ages to write about personal safety,boundries and protecting themselves and their peers.

Sacramento Hispanic Chamber & William Jessup University Announce Recipient of  $5,000 Scholarship

The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with William Jessup University, announced today that Ruby Perez of Placerville is the recipient of an annual $5,000 scholarship to use toward her education at William Jessup University in Rocklin.   

“The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber is proud to partner with William Jessup University to offer this scholarship opportunity to Ruby Perez,” said Alice Perez (no relation), President and CEO of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “We hope that this scholarship brings Ruby closer to achieving her goal of obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and one day fulfilling her dream of becoming a teacher.” 

Ruby has received over 60 awards for her academic achievements and was ranked among the top 30 students at Amador High School.

Leaner Healthier Teen Revolution Hosts "The Weight of The Nation" Event Sept 27

In honor of September being National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, Leaner Healthier Teen (LHT) Revolution, the fastest growing healthy nutrition education weight loss programs in the U.S., announced today that they will host a free screening of HBO’s “THE WEIGHT OF THE NATION: “Children in Crisis!” documentary at a special event at Three Stages in Folsom, Calif. On Sept. 27 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. LHT Revolution is based in the Sacramento area and has licensees in several cities across the U.S., who will be hosting similar events. Basketball Rocks!

Basketball Rocks is a great opprotunity for children ages 4 - 8 years old to learn about and participate in basketball program designed specifically for them. Click here for an interactive flyer.

The Basketball Rocks Pee Wee Clinic is for children 4 - 6 years old. This program uses specially constructed baskets and focus on fun, while learning the basics of basketball. The Pee Wee clinics begin 9/8 and run through 10/6(no class 9/26). The first Clinic runs 11:00am-12:00pm and the second clinic runs 12:00pm-1:00pm. Both clinics cost $35

The Basketball Rocks Clinic is for begining basketball players aged 6-8 years. The participants will learn the skills of passing, dribbling and shooting using specially constructed baskets. Participants will play games in a non-comptitive enviornment.
