CAL EXPO – Approximately 80 craft brewers and hundreds of beer fans gathered at Cal Expo on Saturday to sample and review hundreds of different beers.
The Capital Beer Fest was part of the opening weekend of Sacramento Beer Week, which kicked off on Friday and runs through March 4.
The day started at noon with the Sacramento Brewer's Showcase, featuring regional breweries such as Track 7 Brewing in South Sacramento, Loomis Basin Brewery, Auburn Alehouse, Berryessa Brewing and others providing visitors a taste of Sacramento's surging craft beer industry.
60 more brewers from around the country joined the festivities at 3 p.m. for a three and a half hour tasting extravaganza.
The festivities came to a close around 6:30 p.m. and the crowds filtered out to awaiting food trucks, serving up piles of comfort food to help soak up the suds before designated drivers and courtesy shuttles transported attendees home safely.
