2013 Weekly Challenge #45: Who Are You Thankful For?

2013 Weekly Challenge #45: Who Are You Thankful For?

Our month of Thanks Giving continues!

Last week, we told the world (ok, Facebook) what we were thankful for.  This week's challenge is about giving thanks to someone who may or may not still be in your life who helped you. You may have never told them, but now is your opportunity.

Our Main Mama Lorri Ann says:  "Mine was Miss Machado, my 8th grade teacher.  She believed in me, and encouraged me as my English teacher to write and express myself. Having a chaotic and painful home life, I looked forward to her words of encouragement to me. She never knew how big an influence she was on my life."

@WindFarmOnline Joins the Fight as Social Marketing Partner for Local Childhood Cancer Organization  @KeatonRaphael

The Keaton Raphael Memorial , a local non-profit helping children battling cancer and their families, joins online forces with social marketing  gurus at Windfarm Marketing.  The goal is to strategically establish and build KRM's brand and online presence as two companies coming together to join in the fight as one. A strategic online presence is especially important for KRM as a free outlet to communicate and build awareness, stay in touch with past and present families, donors, and supporters, along with capturing attention of the new.

Dentist trades Halloween candy for treats and cash

Dentist trades Halloween candy for treats and cash

One local dentist believes that kids shouldn’t be deprived of treats. This Halloween, adults and kids alike can bring leftover trick-or-treat candy to The Tooth Station in Folsom or Natomas where they will receive $1 per pound, plus cavity-fighting Xylitol candy. Dr. Bryan Randolph is changing the way patients think about sweets by trading traditional candy for dollars and Xylitol treats that may taste just as good.

“Kids can actually enjoy candy without the cavities,” says Dr. Bryan Randolph, owner and dentist of The Tooth Station. “We want to showcase through our Great Candy Exchange that it’s easy and exciting for parents to give candy that they can feel good about. This is especially important in the Sacramento area, which has one of the worst preschool cavity rates in the nation.”

2013 Weekly Challenge #43: Close the Kitchen

Late night snacking can sneak up on you when you don't even see it coming. That last bite of something left on the kitchen counter, a few cookies during the evening news, a cup of hot chocolate... Because you are slowing down for the day, late night calories don't get burned off. Instead, they go to bed with you, stowed away as fat.

To avoid late night munching, try "shutting down your kitchen" right after dinner:
